The Harington Fellowship Application

Terms of Reference: Applications are invited from third or fourth-year students registered for at least 9 credit hours at the University of Winnipeg in the University’s B.A. (Hons.) Degree program OR from students in a University of Winnipeg/University of Manitoba Joint Master’s Program OR from students preparing an Honours or Master’s thesis or a doctoral dissertation under the supervision of a faculty member at the University of Winnipeg.
This fellowship will be provided to a student, or to an advanced postdoctoral or qualified independent scholar, who will be based at the Centre for Rupert's Land Studies, contributing to the Centre's activities and expressing an interest in historical environmental studies in the Hudson Bay watershed region, formerly known as Rupert's Land, including research involving the use of the Hudson's Bay Company Archives at the Archives of Manitoba; and/or to students whose research focuses on the history of the Indigenous peoples and the fur trade in the Hudson Bay watershed, drawing at least partially upon the Hudson's Bay Company Archives.
The Fellow is provided with work space in the Centre’s research facilities and computer access, and is encouraged to join in and contribute to the work and activities of the Centre for Rupert’s Land Studies.
The successful candidate is required to submit a paper related to their research topic at the end of the year.
