IT Resource Standards Framework
Definitions
Data – refers to electronic information that is stored on computing systems owned and/or operated by the University, or that traverses University networks.
University Community – refers to all employees, students and authorized third parties.
Information Technology (IT) Resource – refers to computer systems, network infrastructure devices, computer peripherals and portable devices owned, leased and/or managed by the University.
TSC – refers to the Technology Solutions Center
ACS – refers to Applied Computer Science
PACE – refers to Professional Applied and Continuing Education
UWSA – refers to University of Winnipeg Student Association
Standards Framework
The University will establish security standards as they relate to the protection of Information Technology (IT) Resources and Data. These standards are to be based on best applied practices in education and related industries, and provide a coherent balance between security and functionality.
The University Community is responsible for understanding and adhering to the contents of these standards to the best of their ability.
The Information Security Office is responsible for maintaining and updating these standards and disseminating its content at regular intervals to the University Community.
Failure to follow these standards may result in an incident response by the Information Security Office.
