Writing Tutoring Policies

Tutoring sessions may be booked in advance by stopping by the Department of Rhetoric, Writing and Communications’ Computer Writing Lab, in 3G10, by calling 786-9129, or by e-mailing us (rhettutor@uwinnipeg.ca).
Fall Term
Mondays to Fridays
09:00 AM to 05:00 PM (University of Winnipeg, on site)
Please note: It may take up to 72 hours until a confirmation of a Zoom appointment time is sent. Please have the Zoom application installed on your computing device (it can be installed on Windows, all Apple devices, and Linux).
You can also drop in for an unscheduled consulting session, provided there are tutors on staff to help you. We do not guarantee staffing for dropping in--your best bet is to make an appointment.
University of Winnipeg students are permitted to schedule two 1-hour session per week. Given our large demand for tutoring, we do not allow the booking of back-to-back appointments.
Cancellations and missed appointments are subject to the following rules:
- Less than 24 hours advance notice of a cancelled appointment merits a warning. (Cancellations can be made in person at the Computer Writing Lab (3G10) during regular hours, by voice mail at 786-9129 or e-mail (rhettutor@uwinnipeg.ca).)
- Two warnings will result in the temporary ban on booking privileges.
- Failure to attend a session, without advanced notice, will result in the immediate cancellation of all other currently scheduled appointments and will result in the removal of booking privileges.
