Volunteers Needed: Variety Manitoba's Bike Camp

Variety’s Bike Camp is BACK for 2024 and volunteers are needed.

The 2-week Bike Camp teaches 80 children ages 8 and up living with a disability to ride a 2-wheel bike independently. Over the course of Camp riders transition from specialized equipment to a 2-wheel coaster bike as they learn the skills needed to balance and steer a bike on their own.

Students can volunteer as an individual, with their family, with friends, as a student group or with co-workers for an employee gives back program. All opportunities are available.

From July 1st – July 5th and July 8th – 12th, 2024 volunteers are needed to follow their rider who will drive back and forth inside an arena and outside in a parking lot. The volunteer spotters are needed to encourage the child, provide support and ensure the child does not fall.

Each child/rider needs 2 volunteer spotters to support them during their time at the Bike camp.

Each session is 75 minutes. The first session of the day begins at 8:30 am and the last session of the day begins at 3:35 pm.

Spotter Volunteer Role Description:
